Joy found in Morsels

A minister I know has recently taken responsibility for the fortnightly service run at the local nursing home. He was saying it is an absolute joy to be a part of such a ministry.

"You give them a morsel and they respond as if you've given them a magnificent feast."

These ageing brothers and sisters are so appreciative of the encouragement they receive as someone opens up their Lord's words with them.

I am currently in the throws of full-time theological study. Some times it feels like an insurmountable feast. The fork keeps moving from plate to mouth, chew one or twice, gulp it down with water and back for more. No time for salivating, or cherishing that favourite flavour. So busily devouring everything that to delight in who and what we are feasting on is forgotten.

7 The law of the LORD is perfect,
reviving the soul.
The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy,
making wise the simple.

8 The precepts of the LORD are right,
giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the LORD are radiant,
giving light to the eyes.

9 The fear of the LORD is pure,
enduring forever.
The ordinances of the LORD are sure
and altogether righteous.

10 They are more precious than gold,
than much pure gold;
they are sweeter than honey,
than honey from the comb.

~ Psalm 19:7-10 ~
