Comfortable?

This weekend was great, time with the extended family, a fun night at youth group and then a camping trip in Appin at Blackstump. Stump is a Christian Music Festival. The last few years I've gone done for a night to hear a few bands play and that's about it. This year I hung out with the Breakaway Bible Study crew. So for the first time I went to some talks and seminars. The general opinion of folk I hang out with is that the teaching is pretty average. And I'd have to agree. Not much bible, not much gospel. But that's one of the reasons I enjoy going to events like Stump, to talk to people who think and explain things differently to shake up my comfortable explanations and to rethink through things.

What they did do really well was encourage the youth that were at Stump to live like a Christian, not just label yourself as one. The big push was for social justice, and just generally being aware of what is going on in the world, and that as Christians we should stand up and make a difference.

It seems to me that we are too apathetic.
Apathy towards really understanding the Word of God well and teaching it truthfully and faithfully.
Apathy to the thousands of children who die needlessly.
Apathy to life.

We're too comfortable and I don't like it.
